Steph Curry Addresses Warriors' LeBron James Pursuit, 'Happy' for 76ers Star After NBA Free Agency
There was plenty of buzz about the Golden State Warriors potentially pursuing LeBron James this offseason, but Stephen Curry is still "happy" for his friend after the King chose the Philadelphia 76ers.
But he also told SiriusXM NBA Radio he thought there was a "conversation" to be had about teaming up with his fellow legend.
"If there was ever some momentum it would be known, based on the profile that LeBron has, if he picks up the phone and says, 'Hey, what's going on out there,' or vice versa and I pick up the phone and say, 'Hey, what's on your mind,'" Curry said. "You want to be in the conversation for a guy like that who is picking his landing spot."
"... As a friend and an Olympic teammate, I'm happy for him that he found somewhere he wants to be."
The idea of James and Curry playing together is one plenty of NBA fans have thought about for years. After all, they defined a generation of the league together with a combined eight championships and six MVPs as two of the greatest players in the sport's history.
They have also seemed like such a perfect pairing for so long as well considering Curry's gravitational pull as an outside shooter creates so much driving space for someone like James to attack the rim.
Throw in their combined basketball IQs and ability to make the play seemingly every time they have the ball in their hands, and it would have been appointment viewing.
But it seems like the only time fans will see them play on the same team is in the Olympics after James decided to join the 76ers this offseason.
It's certainly hard to blame the future Hall of Famer, as the combination of James, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid should put Philadelphia on the short list of realistic championship contenders if they can all stay healthy.
As for Curry, he will look to help the Warriors bounce back after they were eliminated in the play-in tournament last season.
