LeBron James Weighs In on Giannis, Bam Adebayo Pairing With Heat in Video, 'Damn Good'
Philadelphia 76ers star LeBron James praised the Miami Heat's pairing of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo ahead of the start of the 2026-27 NBA season on Tuesday.
During his season preview on the Mind the Game podcast (beginning at the 19:50 mark), James commented on the Giannis-Bam connection, saying, "My initial thought is, it's gonna be damn good."
James added, "Obviously, we've seen what Bam has been able to do over the past few seasons. He's actually started to shoot the three a lot more. ... We know with Giannis, he needs space. He wants space, he creates space. That's when he's really good, when he can attack the 45 or he can get to the gaps, and he has guys around him that create space. So, I think with Bam's ability to now shoot the three, I think that helps out a lot."
Miami made one of the biggest moves of the offseason when it sent Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakuฤionis and four draft picks to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis and Bobby Portis.
Antetokounmpo is a two-time NBA MVP, one-time NBA champion, one-time NBA Finals MVP and future Hall of Famer who averages 29.1 points, 11.6 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per game over the past nine seasons.
Adebayo is a star in his own right, as the 29-year-old center is a three-time All-Star coming off a season in which he averaged 20.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
James expanded a bit more on his thoughts about the Heat, noting that he believes they will be "damn good" defensively thanks to Giannis, Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell.
LeBron also praised Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra for knowing how to "put the pieces in the right position."
James played under Spoelstra for four seasons with the Heat from 2010 to 2014, reaching the NBA Finals four times and winning two championships.
Now, James is back in the Eastern Conference after signing with the Sixers and giving them arguably the best starting five in basketball between himself, Tyrese Maxey, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid and VJ Edgecombe.
However, the Giannis- and Bam-led Heat could prove to be a huge obstacle standing between the 76ers and a potential trip to the NBA Finals.
