The Utah Jazz are gearing up for the 2026-27 campaign, where they look to have a year of growth behind coveted rookie Darryn Peterson and more young talent.

Peterson was in action on Monday as the Jazz downed the San Antonio Spurs 119-109 in their third of four preseason games.

Peterson, the No. 2 overall pick out of Kansas, put together a solid night against the Spurs, showing promise ahead of his debut season. Second-year player Ace Bailey didn't do much on the offensive end but made an impact on defense.

Peterson had a rough outing in his preseason debut with just four points, but he followed that up with a 23-point showing against the Denver Nuggets in his second game.

After 14 points on Monday, it appears the young player is starting to find his groove.

Peterson was a star at Kansas last season and was an obvious choice to be a top-five pick, but the question now is whether his scoring and playmaking will translate to the NBA level.

It will surely take some time for him to get comfortable, but he has all the makings of a strong NBA player.

Jazz fans are surely excited about what's to come for their young core. Bailey had a strong rookie campaign last year, and third-year player Keyonte George had a breakout season.

Utah likely isn't going to be hanging any banners any time soon, but the future looks bright in Salt Lake City.

Peterson and the Jazz will wrap up preseason on Friday against the Phoenix Suns before beginning the regular season against the Memphis Grizzlies on Oct. 21.
