LeBron James Discusses Wemby's MVP Chances, Thunder as NBA Title Threat in New Teaser Video

LeBron James is getting ready for the upcoming season with some red-hot takes on his Mind the Game podcast that will shock NBA fans.

OK, not exactly.

"I don't see why not," James said when Steve Nash asked if the 2026-27 season could be Victor Wembanyama's first MVP campaign. Wemby, of course, finished third in last season's MVP voting and is one of the ascending superstars in the league.

He also said NBA fans shouldn't write off the Oklahoma City Thunder as title contenders. The Thunder reached the Western Conference Finals a year ago but couldn't get past Wemby and the San Antonio Spurs, albeit after being beset by injuries.

One would imagine a healthy Thunder squad will be very much in the mix once again. The hope in Philadelphia, of course, is that the edition of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown over the summer will lead to the first Sixers' title since the 1982–83 season.
