Raptors' Jamal Shead Lands Contract Extension, Full Details Revealed in New NBA Rumors
The Toronto Raptors and guard Jamal Shead agreed to a contract extension on Thursday.
Shead's agent, KJ Smith, informed ESPN's Shams Charania that the extension is worth $24 million over three years and will keep him under contract through the 2029-30 season.
The 24-year-old Shead is preparing to enter his third NBA season after going 45th overall in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft out of Houston.

Shead was a key reserve for the Raptors over each of his first two seasons, essentially serving as Toronto's sixth man and the primary backup to starting point guard Immanuel Quickley.
As a rookie, Shead appeared in 75 games and averaged 7.1 points, 4.2 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.0 three-pointer made, while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 32.3 percent from beyond the arc.
Last season, Shead played in all 82 games for the Raptors, starting 12 of them. He averaged 6.6 points per contest on 36.7 percent shooting from the floor and 32.1 percent shooting from deep, and he set or matched career highs in assists (5.4), rebounds (1.7), three-pointers made (1.0) and minutes played (22.6) per game.
Shead also elevated his game during the Raptors' first-round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which went seven games.
He averaged 9.0 points, 5.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 three-pointers made and 1.4 steals, while starting four of the seven postseason games.
After three straight seasons out of the playoffs, the Raptors were among the NBA's most pleasant surprises last season, finishing 46-36.
During the offseason, the Raptors added Kawhi Leonard to a core that already included Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Jakob Pรถltl, Collin Murray-Boyles, Quickley and Shead, making them a potential force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference.
Shead and the Raptors will kick off their preseason slate Saturday against the Miami Heat before playing their regular-season opener a few weeks later against the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 21.
