Kawhi Leonard Reacts to Pablo Torre Report on Video After Raptors-Clippers Trade, NBA Investigation

On Tuesday, journalist Pablo Torre continued his investigation into Kawhi Leonard and his questionable no-show endorsement deals that ultimately led the NBA to fine him $700,000 and hit the Los Angeles Clippers with severe penalties for salary-cap circumvention on Wednesday.

Leonard was asked by reporters about the latest reporting and said he wasn't paying attention to the situation and wasn't familiar with Torre:

The star forward—who was traded to the Toronto Raptors this summer for Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two first-round picks (2031, 2033), a first-round pick swap in 2027 and two second-rounders (2030, 2033)—got off light compared to the Clippers.

The NBA fined the organization $30 million; forfeited five of its first-round picks (2029-33); suspended owner Steve Ballmer and president of business operations Gillian Zucker for one year and president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank for six months; and will require the organization to undergo a compliance and monitoring program for five years.

Leonard's former business manager, Dennis Robertson, was also banned from doing any business with NBA teams, players and personnel for five years.

While the new Raptors forward may not know much about the ongoing inquiries into his business dealings—or at least isn't willing to acknowledge publicly what he knows—the situation is far from resolved after a federal investigation into the matter was opened earlier in September.

In other words, while Leonard probably would prefer to focus on basketball, Wednesday isn't going to be the last time he's asked about this situation.
