Odell Beckham Jr.'s Limited Giants Role Addressed by Giants OC, WR Has 0 Targets Through 2 Games

Odell Beckham Jr.'s reunion with the New York Giants has been quiet so far, as the receiver has received no targets through the first two games.

Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy addressed the slow start for Beckham on Thursday.

"We're trying to slowly package him into things offensively," Nagy said. "So it's not that he's just a backup. There's some times that, whatever it is, personnel-wise, we have it on the game plan; we just didn't get to it... We're one injury away from him being in all the time."

While the Giants didn't bring Beckham in to be one of their top targets on offense, it is a bit surprising to see how little he's been used through the first two games. During Monday's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, he played just three snaps in the entire game, despite Malik Nabers having to sit out some because of a shoulder injury.

New York hasn't managed to get its offense going much through the first two games, with tight end Isaiah Likely leading the way with 111 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He leads the team in both receptions and targets.

The Giants will face the Tennessee Titans this week, and perhaps going up against a lesser opponent will give them the chance to experiment with Beckham a bit more.

New York will need to find something to get the offense going with starting quarterback Jaxson Dart out for the year.

Beckham spent his first five NFL seasons with New York before stops with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. He's far from the receiver he once was, though the Giants clearly felt like he was serviceable enough to sign him to the 53-man roster.

The 33-year-old is looking to have a memorable reunion with the Giants, but he'll first have to find his way into the regular rotation.
