NBA Says Paris, Manchester Games Featuring Wemby & Zion Drove Record Ticket Demand

NBA fans in Europe are eager to see Victor Wembanyama play in person.

The NBA announced Tuesday that the games between Wembanyama's San Antonio Spurs and Zion Williamson' New Orleans Pelicans set to take place in Europe during the upcoming season sold out after approximately a million fans registered interest in tickets.

San Antonio and New Orleans will face each other at Accor Arena in Paris, France, on Thursday, Jan. 14, before playing again at Co-op Live in Manchester, England, on Sunday, Jan. 17. The games will air on Amazon Prime Video.

Wembanyama being involved surely played a role in the historic interest.

The French superstar is coming off a season where he helped lead the Spurs to the NBA Finals. While they fell short against the New York Knicks, it felt like the first of many times fans will get to see him competing on such a stage.

The 22-year-old already has a resume that features a Rookie of the Year, Western Conference Finals MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, three block titles and an All-NBA First Team selection.

Wembanyama finished third in MVP voting last season while averaging 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 blocks, 3.1 assists and 1.0 steals per game.

And now fans in Europe will get to see him perform in his home continent while facing another notable player in Williamson.
