Where Steve Ballmer, Jerry Jones, Robert Kraft and Sports Owners Rank on Forbes Richest People List

On Monday, Forbes unveiled its list of the 400 richest people in the United States, and multiple sports team owners made the cut.

Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer topped the list of sports figures with a No. 9 overall ranking thanks to his $156.0 billion net worth. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones came in at No. 49 with a $23.5 billion net worth, and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft ranked 81st at $15.2 billion.

Ballmer's top spot among sports figures on the Forbes list is a much-needed taste of positivity after he received a one-year suspension following the NBA's investigation into salary cap circumvention allegations involving the former Clippers star forward Kawhi Leonard, who was traded to the Toronto Raptors. John Gibson, a Los Angeles-based trial lawyer, has been named as the franchise's interim governor and CEO upon Ballmer's nomination.

In addition to Ballmer's suspension, the Clippers were punished with a $30 million fine, the forfeiture of five first-round draft picks and suspensions for team executives Lawrence Frank and Gillian Zucker. Leonard was fined $700,000, though he escaped any harsher penalties. Ballmer recently accepted the NBA's punishments.

"We are complying with the penalties assessed by the league, have paid the fine and are moving forward," he said in a statement.

Other highlights on the Forbes list include Denver Broncos owner Rob Walton coming in at No. 11 with a $132 billion net worth. Henry Samueli of the Anaheim Ducks led the way for the NHL at No. 31 with a $33.8 billion net worth, and New York Mets owner Steve Cohen led the MLB with a No. 43 ranking at $26.7 billion.
