Chris Paul II Visits South Carolina in New Photos, Latest Recruiting Buzz on Son of NBA Legend

South Carolina is attempting to convince the son of basketball royalty to join the program.

Chris Paul II, who is the son of point guard legend Chris Paul, visited the Gamecocks recently ahead of his junior season of high school hoops:

According to 247Sports' composite rankings, Paul is a 4-star prospect and the No. 101 overall player and No. 14 overall point guard in the 2028 recruiting class.

The younger Paul has received a scholarship offer from a handful of programs, including Wake Forest, Coastal Carolina, UT Arlington, Northern Arizona and Cal State Northridge.

The Demon Deacons stand out on that list, as his father is a program legend.

Before he became an 11-time All-NBA selection and member of the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, the elder Paul was a consensus All-American at Wake Forest. He showed enough to be the No. 4 overall pick of the 2005 NBA draft and then became one of the best point guards in league history along the way.

While those are big shoes to fill, Paul II is a talented playmaker in his own right.

Much like his father, he can control the pace of a game, attack the basket off the bounce and put his teammates in ideal positions to score with his facilitating ability. He will surely generate even more interest on the recruiting trail before making a decision with power conference programs such as South Carolina and Wake Forest reaching out.

The Gamecocks are looking to return to form after a couple of disappointing seasons.

They went 26-8 and reached the NCAA men's tournament during the 2023-24 campaign under head coach Lamont Paris but then went 12-20 in 2024-25 and 13-19 in 2025-26.

Finding success on the recruiting trail is the best way to turn things around over a longer period of time, and Paul would be a significant addition to their 2028 class.
