Cowboys' Jerry Jones Addresses Possibility of Tinting AT&T Stadium's Windows After FIFA World Cup

Testing out tinted windows during the 2026 FIFA World Cup games at AT&T Stadium apparently didn't convince Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones any changes need to be made when the stadium hosts NFL games.

"I really don't know about that at all," Jones said when asked in a Friday appearance on 105.3 The Fan if he planned to tint windows again for Sunday's home opener against the Washington Commanders. "So, no, not necessarily."

Jones added, "No, I don't think so. I don't know of any plans to surprise our fans."

The Cowboys' home stadium is built with its end zones pointing east and west, an orientation that allows the sun to shine through the windows on the west side of the stadium during afternoon games.

AT&T Stadium addressed the issue by tinting those windows ahead of a World Cup match at the venue in June, per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer joked in June he would "miss the experience" of seeing the stadium featuring both tinted windows and a grass field this summer.

Wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who has been calling for years for the Cowboys to block the sunlight coming into the stadium, said last week on Caleb Downs' Downs 2 Business podcast he thought some changes might be coming to the stadium windows in the near future.

"I think they're gonna put some tint," Lamb said around the 18:50 mark of the podcast. "I think they're going to put tint on the glass now, so we'll see."

Schottenheimer then said he felt like "anything's possible" when asked about the potential tint in his own Friday appearance on 105.3 The Fan.

It sounds like Schottenheimer and Lamb could be back to battling sun glare when the Cowboys kick off their home opener Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET against the Washington Commanders.
