Dwyane Wade Teases LeBron's Future in New Reaction Video About Surprise 76ers Contract Decision

Basketball Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade weighed in on former teammate LeBron James' decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason, and he had some interesting things to say about the 41-year-old's NBA future.

During a recent interview, Wade said that while he would've liked to see James return to the Miami Heat, he understands that joining the Sixers gives him a better chance to earn a fifth career NBA championship.

"How can I say this without saying it too much? I don't want to say too much. From a basketball standpoint, I thought it was a very strategic move at this point in his career... I feel like it gives him the best chance in the East to be able to get back to competing for a championship," Wade said. "I think Miami would've been a good move as well, but there are a lot of moving parts in that that needed to go right. I feel like this is a little bit more right away from the beginning, the best chance."

He continued: "But also, I don't think we've seen the end of what this move is. I think it's more to this move. And so, I'll just leave it at that."

It's unclear exactly what Wade is referring to, but James' agent, Rich Paul, previously indicated that the 2026-27 season may not be his last.

"I think Philadelphia's going to energize him," Paul told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "Maybe we get two [seasons]. Maybe we get four."

Wade and James played together for five seasons and remain close to this day, so there's a chance that Wade could have some inside information about the 22-time All-Star's future plans.

James and the Sixers will open the 2026-27 season against the reigning NBA champion New York Knicks on Oct. 20.
