Treveyon Henderson Out for Patriots with Ankle Injury, Fantasy Outlook and Top Waiver-Wire RBs

The New England Patriots will be without dynamic running back Treveyon Henderson for Wednesday's season-opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, he's been listed as out for the Super Bowl rematch due to an ankle injury.

Henderson hasn't practice since Aug. 24, so Tuesday's news was fairly expected. Hopefully, fantasy players who drafted him did so with a contingency plan in place for the early weeks.

If not, New England's Corey Kiner is going to be a logical addition on waivers. While Rhamondre Stevenson is likely going to be the Week 1 bellcow and should be started in all formats (ideally as a flex), Kiner would be next in line for touches and could have a role against the Seahawks.

Starting him would be a pretty massive risk outside the deepest of leagues, but he should be on your radar.

As for other players you could target, it's generally pretty bleak immediately following fantasy drafts.

In Las Vegas, Mike Washington Jr. had a fantastic preseason and is only rostered in 21 percent of Yahoo leagues, with the caveat that Ashton Jeanty will likely be the workhorse. But Washington is dynamic and should carve out a nice role, even if there is ample uncertainty about what precisely that role will be heading into Week 1.

Washington's Rachaad White is only rostered in 52 percent of Yahoo leagues and could have a very nice role in a timeshare as the receiving back alongside Jacory Croskey-Merritt. A Week 1 matchup against an excellent Philadelphia Eagles defense isn't ideal, but White's probably about as good as you'll get on waivers this week if he's available.

Finally, Arizona's Tyler Allgeier is only rostered in 18 percent of Yahoo leagues and was listed atop the team's depth chart for Week 1, even if rookie Jeremiyah Love is expected to be the best option in that backfield. But Allgeier is going to get his touches, and he's always a threat to vulture a touchdown or two at the goal line, making him a viable consideration if you are short on options at the position.

Henderson still has long-term fantasy value this season, given his explosiveness and home-run hitting ability. But his 2026 season is certainly off to a tough start.
