OK, fake panic aside, this likely isn't anything to worry about. The Cardinals have always suggested that Allgeier and Love were going to split the workload, though the exact breakdown of that platoon remains to be seen. Also, Love is still recovering from a high ankle sprain, though he's expected to play in Week 1.
"I do know this: not one running back can take all 65 snaps," head coach Mike LaFleur told reporters during training camp. "We've seen that story when guys are a little bit overloaded, and whether it hurts them in one year. I think over time, one year, two years, whatever it is, be able to split those guys up, one, to keep them fresh throughout that game, but two, to keep them as healthy as they can for 17 games is the appropriate way to go."
You don't draft a running back at No. 3 overall to make him a straight-up backup, however. He's going to have a huge role for the Cardinals and one that should make him plenty viable in fantasy. But he is going to share some of his prospective touches with Allgeier.
