Jaylen Brown Thanks Celtics After 76ers Trade, Fans Hold NBA Trophy in Viral Videos of Block Party

Jaylen Brown thanked Boston Celtics fans during his appearance at the "741 Frequency Fest: A Love Letter to Boston Block Party" on Sunday at Boston Commons.

Brown was shockingly traded to the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks.

Brown, 29, spent his first 10 NBA seasons in Boston and they were memorable. He was a one-time champion, five-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection during his time with the organization, averaging 20 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest.

With Jayson Tatum missing most of the 2025-26 season, Brown stepped up in a major way, putting up 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists. But the Celtics chose to not only trade him, but also to an Eastern Conference rival.

Still, Brown's time in Boston was important to him, as he reflected on Sunday.

"When I got to this city I said I'm gonna go to war for this city," he said at the event. "I met so many great people here. People that helped me in the community, that motivated me on my journey. People that have supported me even when I didn't support myself at times. I just want to say thank you to Boston. Thank you to the city, and I love you."

Boston's decision to trade Brown to the Sixers, however, had quite the domino effect. LeBron James chose to sign with the team in the offseason shortly thereafter, giving Philly arguably the scariest starting lineup in the sport, with that duo pairing with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.

Expectations are high in Philadelphia. But Brown's fondness for the city of Boston clearly remains intact.
