Knicks' Jalen Brunson Declared 'The King' by NYC Mayor Mamdani in Trending Video
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is well aware of the hierarchy in the Big Apple following the New York Knicks' 2026 NBA championship win.
Mamdani had a fun interaction with a child over the weekend while they were roasting marshmallows, and it ended with him giving a well-deserved title to Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson.
"You could become the king," the child suggested.
"I'm happy as the mayor," Mamdani responded before leaning over and whispering, "Jalen Brunson is the king."
Brunson endeared himself to NYC since joining the Knicks in 2022, and he solidified his spot as one of the greatest sports figures in New York history by leading the franchise to its first NBA title since 1973.
It's safe to say that Mamdani isn't the only New Yorker to have officially crowned Brunson as King of NYC.
