Odell Beckham Jr. Hyped by John Harbaugh Ahead of Decision on Giants' Roster Cuts

As Odell Beckham Jr. eyes a spot on the New York Giants ahead of roster cuts at the end of the week, he received high praise from head coach John Harbaugh.

"Odell's had a good camp," Harbaugh told reporters on Wednesday. "His best week of camp has come this week."

After going unsigned during the 2025 campaign, Beckham joined the Giants in June, setting up a reunion with the team where he started his career.

"Most people don't get a chance to double back," the veteran receiver told reporters earlier this month. "This is a place that made me into a man, made me into who I am. I have so much love for this organization, this city. I got 'New York' tatted on my back, you know what I mean? I'm from New Orleans. All I ever wanted to do was win a championship for the New York Giants."

But his return to New York this summer didn't guarantee that he'd be on the roster once the season began. He's still fighting for a spot in the final weeks of training camp.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan reported on Aug. 10 that Beckham is competing with Braxton Berrios and Dalen Cambre for the final spot on the roster.

The competition for the final roster spot might have changed this week, though, as wide receiver Calvin Austin III suffered a season-ending torn ACL on Tuesday. That's unfortunate news for the Giants' depth, but it could make it a bit easier for Beckham to secure a spot on the roster.

Beckham has spent most of the offseason as a reserve option but has occasionally worked with New York's first-team offense. He's also shown some vintage moments throughout camp.

Through two preseason games, Beckham has recorded four receptions for 23 yards.

The 33-year-old Beckham was an All-Pro caliber receiver during his first tenure with the Giants, but injuries derailed his career a bit, and he hasn't recorded a 1,000-plus receiving yard season since 2019. He last played for the Miami Dolphins in 2024, where he recorded just nine receptions for 55 yards.

He's looking to revitalize his career in New York, but he'll have to finish out the week strong to ensure he makes the 53-man roster.
