Everything Odell Beckham Jr. Said About Giants Reunion, Pressure to Perform, Harbaugh Conversation

Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. discussed his reunion with the New York Giants as he navigates through training camp.

"Most people don't get a chance to double back," Beckham told reporters on Wednesday (0:11 mark). "This is a place that made me into a man, made me into who I am. I have so much love for this organization, this city. I got 'New York' tatted on my back, you know what I mean? I'm from New Orleans. All I ever wanted to do was win a championship for the New York Giants."

The 33-year-old also explained that he doesn't mind feeling pressure to compete for a role within the team's offense during camp.

"I kind of like it," Beckham told reporters (0:14 mark). "My boy texted me, he's like, 'This is where you thrive.' Like, pressure. The amount of pressure I live for, it's tatted on my finger."

He detailed his conversation with Giants head coach John Harbaugh prior to joining the team as well.

"He's like, 'You know I've got a really good relationship with you, I don't want you come here and then something happens and you can't make the team.' I'm like, 'I can live with me getting up, leaving my home, coming here and giving my best effort and if it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out,'" Beckham said (0:49 mark). "I couldn't live with me feeling like I gave up on myself and I never seen through my dream that I've been chasing since I was four years old."

Beckham also revealed that he's feeling good in camp and is focused on staying consistent moving forward.

Beckham, who spent the first five seasons of his career with the Giants from 2014-18, returned to the team on June 1.

He has some familiarity with Harbaugh, previously playing under him as a member of the Baltimore Ravens in 2023.

After catching just nine passes for 55 yards during the 2024 season, Beckham underwent knee surgery and didn't play throughout the following year.

Now, he's looking to earn a roster spot and compete for playing time on a Giants offense headlined by Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo.
