Tyler Warren Injured, Latest Rumors on Colts TE's Timeline to Return Ahead of 2026 NFL Season
Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren is reportedly not believed to be in danger of missing the team's regular-season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 13.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Warren is expected to miss "about a week" due to a minor groin injury he suffered during training camp, but there are "no worries" about him being ready for Week 1 of the regular season.
Warren suffered the injury Wednesday during a joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons, per ESPN's Stephen Holder.
Selected 14th overall in the 2025 NFL draft out of Penn State, Warren instantly established himself as one of the top tight ends in the league as a rookie.
Appearing in all 17 games, Warren recorded 76 receptions for 817 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for a touchdown.
Warren led the Colts in receiving yardage and was second in catches, and he was named to the Pro Bowl in his debut campaign.
Entering the 2026 regular season, there are some question marks surrounding the Colts' passing game, as multiple key players are coming off injuries.
Quarterback Daniel Jones' 2025 season was cut short by a torn Achilles, and No. 1 wide receiver Alec Pierce has yet to participate in training camp or the preseason after undergoing offseason ankle surgery.
The Colts signed veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen this week in a move viewed by many as an insurance policy in case Pierce is limited or isn't ready for the start of the regular season.
Until Warren is ready to return to the practice field, the starter reps at tight end during practice figure to go to Mo Alie-Cox.
The 32-year-old Alie-Cox is preparing to enter his ninth NFL season with the Colts, and he has registered 127 receptions for 1,550 yards and 16 touchdowns in 125 career regular-season games.
