Lamar Jackson's Stance on Ravens' Offense Under Declan Doyle Revealed in New NFL Rumors

An offseason of change for the Baltimore Ravens involved Lamar Jackson partnering with his fourth different offensive coordinator since becoming the full-time starting quarterback midway through his rookie year in 2018.

Per ESPN's Dan Graziano, the addition of Declan Doyle as Baltimore's new offensive play-caller has been met with enthusiasm by Jackson throughout the offseason and training camp.

"Jackson, according to multiple sources, has been all-in this offseason, showing an enthusiasm for Doyle's offense and what he can do in it," Graziano wrote.

The hiring of Doyle came after the Ravens replaced John Harbaugh as head coach with Jesse Minter, who previously worked on Harbaugh's staff from 2017 to '20.

This marks Doyle's second season as an offensive coordinator, but his first time as the primary play-caller. He had the title last year with the Chicago Bears, though head coach Ben Johnson held play-calling responsibilities.

Doyle, who turned 30 on March 6, comes from a great coaching tree with experience under Sean Payton and Johnson.

Per ESPN's Ben Solak, some of the difficulties that emerge from the Payton and Johnson systems are the wordiness of the play calls, as well as "long chapters of personnel groupings and on-field adjustments."

There could be a period of adjustment for Jackson in this system, much like there was early last season for Caleb Williams working with Johnson before they finally put the pieces together to help the Chicago Bears win the NFC North.

Jackson's ceiling at this point in his career is higher than Williams in 2025, so even with some potential growing pains, the Ravens should still be able to move the ball and score points.

If the Doyle-Jackson pairing hits right out of the gate, he could easily be in the discussion to win his third MVP award and the Ravens would likely be a strong Super Bowl contender.
