Tarik Skubal Calls Out His Inefficiency After Dodgers' Loss to Brewers, 'Not Acceptable'
Tarik Skubal has made a living off of going deep into games, but that hasn't been the case since arriving in Los Angeles.
After going six innings in a 6-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, the Dodgers star called his inefficiency "not acceptable."
"My last outing was 5, the one before that was 6; that's just not acceptable, it's not the standard of what I think I'm capable of in this league," Skubal said.
It wasn't necessarily a bad outing for Skubal, who gave up just one run while striking out seven batters, but he gave up seven hits and walked two, which led to his pitch count getting high early in the game. He finished the game with a season-high 99 pitches.
"I think I was just frustrated with the pitch count through five (innings)," Skubal said. "Just need to be more efficient... save some innings from the bullpen; they've been kind of grinding for us."
The Dodgers acquired Skubal hoping he could bolster their rotation enough to deliver a third consecutive World Series. The back-to-back Cy Young Award winner is certainly capable of doing that, especially if he can get back to going deep into games.
