Jaylen Brown Says 'We'll Find Out' If Celtics Made Mistake Trading Him to 76ers for Paul George

Jaylen Brown isn't getting ahead of himself as he starts a new chapter with the Philadelphia 76ers after spending 10 seasons with the Boston Celtics.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live with guest host Anthony Anderson (starts at 3:10 mark), Brown simply said "we'll find out" if the Celtics made a mistake by trading him.

Looking at his new team in the wake of LeBron James coming on board (starts at 7:30 mark), Brown spoke about "looking forward to every part of the journey" in Philadelphia:

"Every practice, film session. But honestly, the journey kinda starts now. It doesn't happen overnight, where you can just roll the ball out there and guys are gonna be successful. It takes a lot of work, so I'm not losing sleep, but not a day goes by where I'm not thinking about how I can help my team and help my teammates and kinda make this thing work. We got a lot of talent. We got a great opportunity. And I wanna make it work, so I'm looking forward to it."

The 76ers have completely transformed their roster in a way that, as Brown alluded to, could take time to fully gel. They've been playing a specific style with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid as the central figures, but things have to change with Brown and James entering the picture. VJ Edgecombe also figures to take on an expanded role after a very promising rookie season.

Even with some potential growing pains early in the season while head coach Nick Nurse figures out all the pieces of the puzzle, the Sixers are much better equipped to challenge the Celtics and New York Knicks as the top team in the Eastern Conference.

We will find out how good this group is right out of the gate when the Sixers take on the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on opening night of the 2026-27 NBA season on Oct. 20.

Brown will get his first chance to play against his former team on Nov. 10 when the Sixers host the Celtics. His first game back in Boston as a visiting player won't come until Jan. 21.
