Knicks Troll Spurs With Jalen Brunson Photo After 2026 NBA Christmas Day Schedule Reveal

The New York Knicks reacted Tuesday to the announcement of their Christmas Day game against the San Antonio Spurs during the 2026-27 NBA regular season.

In response to the NBA revealing the 2026 NBA Finals rematch between the Knicks and Spurs for 12 p.m. ET on Christmas Day, the Knicks posted a photo of reigning NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson on X:

Brunson is sporting a 2026 NBA champions hat in the photo, signifying the Knicks' triumph over the Spurs in five games.

With Brunson leading the way, the Knicks won their first NBA championship since 1973, and he was honored with the NBA Finals MVP Award by virtue of averaging 32.6 points, 4.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds per contest over the five-game series.

Led by superstar center Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs looked like the team to beat in the Finals after knocking out the then-reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, but they ran into a buzzsaw.

After falling behind 2-1 in their first-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks, the Knicks won 15 of their final 16 postseason games en route to a title.

In addition to their Dec. 25 game against the Spurs, it was also announced Tuesday that the Knicks will host the Philadelphia 76ers on opening night on Oct. 20.

The Knicks will raise their championship banner at Madison Square Garden, while also welcoming a loaded Sixers team that added Jaylen Brown and LeBron James this offseason.
