Jalen Brunson Reacts to Viral Meme in Jaylen Brown's Video from Donovan Mitchell, Coco Jones Wedding

New York Knicks superstar guard Jalen Brunson explained Monday how he came to be part of a popular meme this summer.

During an interview with the New York Post, Brunson was asked about the video Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown filmed of him on the dance floor at the wedding of Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell and singer Coco Jones:

When asked if he expected the clip to go viral, Brunson said, "Not at all. I just saw [Brown] like out the corner of my eye recording me. I've known him since eighth grade, high school, for a long time. And just didn't think anything of it. I just saw him recording me and went along with my evening, and then when you wake up next morning you see it all over the place."

Brunson added, "I wasn't thinking anything. I just thought it was a little funny moment, and then people just ran with it."

The soon-to-be 30-year-old Brunson is coming off a historic season, as he helped lead the Knicks to their first NBA championship since 1973, and was named NBA Finals MVP in the process.

Thanks in large part to Brunson's play, the Knicks won 15 of their final 16 playoff games, leaving no doubt that they were the NBA's best team last season.

While the Knicks will enter the 2026-27 season as the team to beat since their entire starting five of Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges is returning, they don't figure to have a cakewalk back to the Finals.

The main team standing in their way could be the Sixers, who added Brown in a trade with the Boston Celtics and then signed LeBron James in free agency this offseason.

Brunson and Brown had some great battles during Brown's time in Boston, but despite their friendship, the intensity could be taken up another notch with Brown and the Sixers now potentially standing between the Knicks and back-to-back titles.
