Norman Powell Gives Honest Take on Bulls' 'Really Good' or 'Really Bad' Potential for NBA Season

After signing with the Chicago Bulls this offseason, veteran swingman Norman Powell is well aware that he's joining a rebuilding team.

While speaking to Mark Medina of Fadeaway World, Powell gave a candid assessment about the Bulls' prospects for success next season.

"We have the potential to be really good," Powell said. "But we also have the potential to be really bad."

Powell is coming off a strong season for the Miami Heat in which he averaged 21.7 points across 58 games. No player on the Bulls averaged 19 points or more last season.

Chicago had the No. 4 pick in the 2026 draft and selected athletic marvel Caleb Wilson, who appears to have the makings of a two-way star. Still, it will take him some time to develop, and the Bulls are willing to be patient as they usher in a youth movement under new head coach Tiago Splitter.

While Powell added some optimism to his assessment of the Bulls, it's safe to assume that there will be some growing pains in Chicago during the 2026-27 campaign.

"I think it's about finding that fine line with how we're going to go out and develop our mentality every night. So when teams play us, they know what they're getting. Obviously, Tiago's voice, coaching style and his approach will definitely help with that. But I also want to help with that mentality," Powell told Medina. "So that when you come to play the Bulls, at home or on the road, you will have to compete for a full 48 minutes. We're going to pick it up, play hard and attack you. We're going to use every single weapon we have available to help us get wins."
