Markieff Morris Eyes 76ers Final Roster Spot Amid Kevin Love Rumors, 'Philly Raised!!!'

NBA free agent forward Markieff Morris wants to play for his hometown Philadelphia 76ers.

Word emerged via ESPN's Dave McMenamin that free agent forward Kevin Love wants to reunite with his old Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, LeBron James, in Philadelphia. Evan Sidery of FanSided relayed the report, and Morris then had this to say.

Morris has played 14 NBA seasons for the Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks. He averaged 10.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

The 6'9" forward, who turns 37 on Sept. 2, last played in 2024-25 for the Lakers and Mavs. He played in 15 games, averaging 3.7 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 11.0 minutes per contest.

Morris and his twin brother, fellow NBA forward Marcus Morris, were born and raised in Philadelphia before playing college ball at Kansas. Seeing Markieff Morris playing for the 76ers would be a great story as his career goes full circle.

As Sidery noted, the 76ers have a full roster right now and would have to part ways with a player to add anyone new, and there would surely be others wanting to play for a Philadelphia team with great prospects after adding LeBron James and Jaylen Brown. However, Morris has thrown his hat in the ring in the hopes of being considered.
