Naji Marshall, Mavs Agree to Contract Extension, Reported Details and New Jersey Number Revealed

Dallas Mavericks swingman Naji Marshall has become one of the team's key players, and he's reportedly been rewarded for his efforts.

The Mavs announced on Sunday that they've agreed to a multi-year contract extension with Marshall, who is changing his jersey number from No. 13 to No. 3. ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Marshall received a fully guaranteed three-year, $52.2 million deal.

After spending the first four years of his career with the New Orleans Pelicans, Marshall originally joined the Mavs on a three-year deal prior to the 2024-25 season. His two-way production helped him find a home in Dallas, as he ended the 2025-26 campaign with career highs of 15.2 points, 3.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 51.0 percent shooting across 74 games with 47 starts. He has eight 30-point games in Dallas after failing to reach the mark during his tenure in New Orleans.

"Naji has earned this opportunity through the way he approaches the game every day," Mavericks president Masai Ujiri said in a release. "He is a competitive player who impacts winning in a variety of ways. His versatility, toughness and willingness to embrace every challenge make him an important part of what we're building."

While the Mavs are in the midst of a rebuild spearheaded by 2025 No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, Marshall brings a veteran presence that should be beneficial to their young players. Dallas has also maintained its commitment to star point guard Kyrie Irving, who is returning from a torn ACL that caused him to miss all of last season.

Keeping Marshall in the fold could help the Mavs accelerate their rebuild as they try to return to playoff contention within the next few years.
