KCP Reacts to Joining LeBron, Embiid, Jaylen Brown and 76ers in New Video After Grizzlies Buyout

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who will sign a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers after agreeing to a buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies, spoke on his Dawg Talk Podcast about reuniting with ex-Los Angeles Lakers teammate LeBron James and the importance of "playing meaningful basketball" again.

Caldwell-Pope played four seasons for the Lakers (three with James), and the two won an NBA title together to cap the 2019-20 campaign. Three seasons later, KCP won his second NBA championship as a key member of the Denver Nuggets.

The 33-year-old didn't enjoy that same team success last year, as the 25-57 Grizzlies struggled to a 13th-place finish in the 15-team Western Conference.

Caldwell-Pope is understandably happy at the prospect of competing for a championship again. The 76ers went to the second round of the playoffs last year and got better on paper by trading for Jaylen Brown and signing James to a team that has guards Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe and center Joel Embiid already aboard.

KCP should help the team remain a strong playoff contender off the bench. He is a solid 3-and-D wing who averaged 8.4 points, 2.7 assists, 2.5 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game last season. He'll be one of the top reserves alongside should Anfernee Simons and Dean Wade.
