Update on Where LeBron Will Live Revealed in New NBA Rumors After 76ers Contract, NYC Reports

Having officially signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, the next big question everyone is keeping an eye on pertaining to LeBron James is where he will be living during the 2026-27 NBA season.

Per The Athletic's Fred Katz, James' living arrangements "have yet to be finalized" amid rumors he could set up camp in New York City and commute to Philadelphia.

"James has not publicly commented on his living arrangements," Katz wrote. "His plans have yet to be finalized, according to a league source who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly."

ESPN's Shams Charania reported on July 24 that James could live in New York or New Jersey while playing for the Sixers. The 76ers' practice facility is in Camden, New Jersey.

Even though the trip from NYC to Xfinity Mobile Arena is roughly 100 miles, Katz noted James could travel via helicopter to make the journey in approximately 45 minutes.

Per Michael Tanenbaum of PhillyVoice.com, citing information from New York-based charter service Wing Air Helicopters, James would likely end up paying $804,000 total for round-trip service throughout the entire 2026-27 season if he opts to live in New York and fly into Philadelphia.

It's not uncommon for 76ers players to have their primary residence during the NBA season be outside of Philadelphia. Wilt Chamberlain and JJ Redick are two examples of former Sixers players who lived in New York and commuted to the City of Brotherly Love.

Sixers fans don't care where James is going to live if he helps the team win a championship. The 76ers haven't reached the NBA Finals since the 2000-01 season and haven't won a title since the 1982-83 campaign.
