Jaylen Brown Makes Cryptic Post Amid 76ers Offseason After Celtics Trade

Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown made the following post on X Wednesday.

The reasoning behind the post is unclear, but Brown just went through an interesting offseason to say the least.

After 10 seasons with the Boston Celtics, who selected him with the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, Brown got traded to the 76ers for Paul George, two first-round draft picks and two second-round selections.

Brown just landed on the All-NBA Second Team after averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. The 29-year-old is also a five-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA player.

It was a great year for Brown as he helped lead the Celtics to 56 wins and the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs despite co-star Jayson Tatum suffering a torn Achilles in May 2025 that forced him to sit out until March 6, 2026.

The end of the season did not go well for Boston, which blew a 3-1 series lead to the No. 7 seed Philadelphia 76ers en route to a 4-3 first-round loss.

A couple months later, Brown found himself on the 76ers. Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens explained to reporters that, in essence, the trade was made to navigate a tough financial landscape in the NBA.

Of note, he said, in part, that "the path looked a little bit more challenging, with 70 percent of our cap and such a high percent of our usage tied into two players," that being Brown and Tatum.

Brown was understandably disappointed after the trade, but he's excited about the new challenge ahead.

Now he'll get a new opportunity to compete in Philadelphia, which also just added LeBron James and looks primed for a deep playoff run.
