Rich Paul Rips Idea of LeBron James Making Roster Demands From Teams After 76ers Contract

After LeBron James signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, many are wondering about the power he wields with his new team.

However, James' agent, Rich Paul, made it clear that it's not in his nature to make roster demands.

"The things that's perceived is so far from the truth," Paul said on Wednesday's episode of his Game Over podcast with Max Kellerman. "One of those things is like, OK, I think someone said, 'Oh, if you sign LeBron comes with all this.' He doesn't come with anything. He comes with himself. ... But again, I think people have this idea that he's asking for all these things. We were not raised like that, just first and foremost. We were not raised like that. We were actually raised the opposite way: don't ask nobody for anything if you can't get it yourself."

After James' arrival in Philadelphia, the team signed another veteran in swingman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who is also represented by Paul. Caldwell-Pope agreed to a contract buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies before making the swift decision to join James in the City of Brotherly Love. Still, Paul insisted that there wasn't a pre-planned idea to team up with the Sixers.

Paul went on to add that the one demand James has for his franchise is to be in a position to compete for an NBA championship, which has been his primary motivation throughout his iconic career.

"The second part of that is, the one thing he does ask for is to be in a position to win, and if being in a position to win is a negative ask, then what are you in team sports for, in that case?" Paul said. "Like, I just don't understand that; you can't have it both ways."
