Karl-Anthony Towns Says He Eyed Putback Dunk Before OG Anunoby's Iconic Game 4 NBA Finals Tip-In

Karl-Anthony Towns was ready to dunk home the game-winning basket if OG Anunoby didn't make his now-legendary tip-in during the New York Knicks' epic 107-106 win over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

"I'm right next to him! I was going to dunk it," Towns revealed on The Interview podcast (6:15 mark). "I see OG flying in the sky and I was like, 'Alright, well if he tries to tip the ball back in and it goes long, it goes off the front rim, I'm gonna dunk it back in.' OG made it. It was something special. The play was designed to go to me and then two people guarded me, in-bounder and the person defending me. We got the ball to [Jalen Brunson] and JB took a quick pull-up three. And OG, who was inbounding the ball, found himself with no one on him and he crashed the boards and got an offensive rebound, which was tipped in, and found a way to make the bucket. It's gonna go down as one of the greatest plays in New York history, one of the greatest plays in NBA Finals history."

It capped off an incredible 29-point comeback, gave the Knicks a 3-1 lead in the series (they would seal the title in Game 5) and will forever be remembered as one of the greatest moments in Knicks history.

But Towns was apparently ready if Anunoby's historical moment didn't come to fruition.
