LeBron James Will Be NBA's 310th Highest-Paid Player After Taking Pay Cut on 76ers Contract
The Philadelphia 76ers agreed to sign LeBron James to a two-year, $8 million deal with a player option fort the second season on Friday, arguably the greatest value contract in NBA history.
Consider this—he won't even be among the top-300 paid players next season:
James, 41, is indisputably one of the greatest players in NBA history. But the Sixers aren't getting a player who is no longer productive at the end of his career—James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds in 60 games last season, shooting 51.5 percent from the field.
His playmaking alone will be huge for the Sixers, allowing Tyrese Maxey to play more off the ball, while his experience and pedigree will greatly aid a Sixers time trying to get over the hump and break a 43-year title drought.
And all at an incredible bargain from a payroll perspective. Heady times in Philadelphia, indeed.
