LeBron James' decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency generated a response from Merriam-Webster.

After ESPN's Shams Charania reported that James signed a two-year contract worth $8 million with Philadelphia on Friday, Merriam-Webster responded with a link to its dictionary definition of "process" on X.

James previously used the "trust the process" catchphrase, which has often been associated with the 76ers, when speaking at Fanatics Fest in New York City on July 17.

"Trust the process" was used regarding the 76ers during their rebuilding years from 2013-17, with star center Joel Embiid later adopting "The Process" as one of his nicknames.

Philadelphia has made the playoffs in eight of the past nine seasons, although the team hasn't been able to advance beyond the second round.

With James and five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown now joining Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, the 76ers are looking to go on a deeper postseason run next year.
