One teenager unwittingly purchased a part of NBA history and gained a handsome profit.

Oregon resident Quinn Brown bought a Lakers warmup jacket at a thrift store in January, paying $3.07. It wound up being a game-worn jacket of Wilt Chamberlain's from the 1972 NBA Finals.

Brown sold the jacket at auction for $89,600 on Monday.

"I didn't even think that finding something like this was possible," Brown told the Associated Press' Claire Rush. "I got very, very lucky."

Sotheby's, which handled the auction, verified the authenticity of the jacket by looking at photos from the 1972 Finals.

The Lakers beat the New York Knicks in five games that year to win their sixth title. Chamberlain was the MVP of the series after averaging 19.4 points and 23.2 rebounds.
