Ball is in town after the Charlotte Hornets dealt him and Josh Green to Minnesota for Naz Reid, a first-round draft pick, three first-round pick swaps and three second-round selections. The deal was later expanded to include the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets.
Minnesota is trying to break through to the NBA Finals after a pair of Western Conference Finals trips in 2024 and 2025 and a second round appearance in 2026. This upcoming season's Timberwolves squad will look a bit different with Reid (and forward Julius Randle) out of town and Ball now running the point.
Ball, Edwards, forward Jaden McDaniels and center Rudy Gobert will start again. It's not entirely clear who would be the fifth starter, although Ayo Dosunmu could be a good bet, as noted on HoopsHype.
Edwards and Ball now lead the way, though, as Minnesota hopes for its first NBA Finals appearance in franchise history.
