ESPN's Shams Charania reported the Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers were the top candidates to land James during a Thursday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
Cleveland is coming off a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, boasting a core that includes Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.
While James will be turning 42 years old next season, he didn't show too many signs of slowing down throughout his 2025-26 campaign.
The NBA's all-time leading scorer averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game on 51.5/31.7/73.7 shooting splits.
