Saturday Night Live star Marcello Hernández was the host for the 2026 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night, ESPN's annual awards show honoring achievements in sports.

And sports fans enjoyed his opening monologue and overall performance:

Among Hernández's highlights was a dig at Jake Paul.

"It's an honor to be here among so many incredible athletes... and Jake Paul," he joked. "Jake, that's just a joke, OK? Don't fight me. My dad and my stepdad are both here—they're over 50 and I know that's how you like 'em.

He also slid in a joke about Bill Belichick's relationship with the much-younger Jordon Hudson while discussing the New York Knicks ending their 53-year title drought this year.

"In 1973 hockey players didn't wear helmets, basketball had no three-point line and in 1973 Bill Belichick was the age his girlfriend is now," Hernández riffed.
