Lakers' Robbie Avila Ranks Favorite Nicknames amid 'Cream Abdul-Jabbar' Jokes in NBA Summer League
Los Angeles Lakers rookie Robbie Avila was a fan favorite at the collegiate level, and his nicknames have followed him to NBA Summer League.
Avila has a few nicknames he likes more than others, though.
Per the New York Post's Khobi Price, Avila put "Rob Wave" and "Milk Chamberlain" in the S-tier of his nicknames. He said "Larry Nerd," "Cream Abdul-Jabbar" and "SLU Alcindor" were A-tier nicknames, while "College Jokic" and "Larry Blurr" were in his B-tier.
"Steph Blurry" and "Shaquille Oatmeal" are C-tier nicknames, according to Avila.
Avila was a star at Indiana State and started to take on several different nicknames, many of which referenced his glasses, which resemble the ones Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wore during his playing days.
He then transferred to St. Louis, where he led the Bilikens to the NCAA Tournament last season, picking up an opening-round win over Georgia before losing to Michigan.
The A-10 Player of the Year went undrafted, but signed with the Lakers. Now, he's hoping to prove himself in Summer League as he eyes a spot in the NBA.
