AJ Dybantsa Shut Down for Rest of NBA Summer League by Wizards, Full Stats for No. 1 Pick
Washington Wizards rookie A.J. Dybantsa is done for the rest of the 2026 NBA Summer League.
Wizards summer league coach T.J. Sorrentine told The Athletic's Josh Robbins Dybantsa would sit out the team's two remaining games.
Here's a look at how the top pick of the 2026 NBA draft performed in his first two appearances with the Wizards.
| Games | Points | Rebounds | Assists | Steals | Blocks | |
| A.J. Dybantsa | 2 | 25.0 | 7.0 | 2.0 | 2.5 | 1.5 |
The Wizards are also shutting down Will Riley and Tre Johnson for the team's final two Summer League games, Sorrentine told Robbins.
Riley averaged 25 points in two games, while Johnson contributed 26 points in his lone Summer League appearance.
Dybantsa made his NBA Summer League debut Thursday against the Utah Jazz.
He helped the Wizards claim a 92-88 victory over Darryn Peterson and the Jazz by contributing 27 points on 7-for-18 shooting alongside seven rebounds and two assists.
Dybantsa helped the Wizards secure another Summer League win on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings.
He contributed 23 points on 6-for-15 shooting from the field (1-for-6 from deep) while adding three steals and two blocks while showing off his defense in the win.
Veteran players including Trae Young have been in attendance to watch Dybantsa and his teammates in Las Vegas, something Dybantsa described as a sign of a culture shift in Washington, D.C.
Dybantsa was selected by the Wizards with the top pick of the 2026 NBA draft after leading college basketball with 25.5 points in 35 games with BYU.
Summer League marked his first game action since BYU was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament on March 19.
The Wizards have two games remaining this summer in Las Vegas with matchups against the Chicago Bulls and L.A. Clippers scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Dybantsa will next see action with the Wizards this fall, when he is expected to join two young stars in Kyshawn George and Alex Sarr alongside two veterans in Young and Anthony Davis as part of a rotation Washington is hoping can take this team to the playoffs in the near future.
