Bronny James Trade Rumors Addressed by NBA Exec as Warriors, Cavs, More Pursue LeBron

NBA teams interested in signing LeBron James this offseason are also considering pursuing a trade for his son Bronny Janes, Front Office Sports' Alex Schiffer reported Tuesday.

According to Schiffer, "multiple front office sources from teams in the mix for James said they have discussed acquiring Bronny should his father pick their team."

One NBA executive told Schiffer: "We wouldn't be doing our jobs if we didn't discuss it."

Bronny is signed with the Lakers through the 2026-27 season with a team option for the following campaign, according to Spotrac.

His deal became fully guaranteed for $2.3 million next season the day before ESPN's Shams Charania reported his father had decided to leave the Lakers in free agency.

Bronny, selected by the Lakers with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 draft, appeared in 42 regular-season games and eight postseason contests with the team last season.

He averaged 2.9 points, 1.2 assists and 0.5 steals while playing 8.9 minutes per game in the regular season, then posted 1.5 points in 5.3 minutes per playoff contest.

Charania previously named the Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers as frontrunners to sign James. Schiffer more recently reported the "consensus among executives" is either the Cavaliers or the Golden State Warriors.

The Heat, Warriors and Cavaliers all currently have at least one roster spot available, while the Sixers may need to move out at least one player in order to create a place. The Lakers have a full roster and could create an open spot by moving Bronny.

The Stein Line's Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported earlier this month there is a "conspiracy whisper making the rounds" the Cavaliers are keeping roster spots open in case of a potential trade for Bronny.

Charania reported Monday on NBA Today LeBron is inching "closer and closer to a decision." Where he ultimately decides to play could also impact where Bronny ends up next fall.
