The center fielder has been off the field since mid-June because of a hamstring injury.
Trout was named an All-Star for the 12th time in his career this year and earned his 11th starting nod. The veteran leads all active MLB players in All-Star Game selections.
He was not named an All-Star in either of the last two seasons, though, because of a torn meniscus that sidelined him for much of the 2024 and 2025 campaigns. The two-time All-Star Game MVP was injured for the 2021, 2022 and 2023 All-Star Games.
Potentially being able to play in this year's All-Star Game is even more special for Trout since it will be played in Philadelphia, not far from his hometown of Millville, New Jersey.
"It was definitely on my list when it came out, so it's pretty cool," TroutĀ saidĀ of the All-Star Game. "Just the kids, friends, family. It just means a lot."
Trout added that he has no plans to participate in the Home Run Derby because of his injury.
"I love playing in it, but it's an experience for my kids and family," Trout said. "It's going to be good to be able to stay at my house and enjoy a few days. And I know my kids are excited for the Derby, and obviously the game too. MLB does a really good job on the festivities for the families."
Trout, a three-time American League MVP, was playing well before the injury, notching 17 homers and 36 RBI while slashing .234/.394/.472. The Angels have once again struggled, though, sitting at the bottom of the AL West at 36-56.
