New NBA Rumors on Luka Doncic's Reaction to Lakers' Walker Kessler Trade, Free Agency Signings
In addition to parting ways with LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers revamped their roster with a slew of offseason moves.
Per ESPN's Dave McMenamin, the Lakers' activity this summer has pleased their new face of the franchise, as a source familiar with Luka Doncic's thinking told him that the star guard "was 'excited' about the new players and 'looking forward to getting to work with this group.'"
The Lakers acquired center Walker Kessler from the Utah Jazz in a blockbuster trade. They also added depth by signing veterans Collin Sexton, Quentin Grimes, Kevon Looney and Sandro Mamukelashvili.

Kessler, in particular, should thrive as a rim protector and pick-and-roll finisher alongside Doncic. The other signings should provide Los Angeles with floor spacing and steady defense.
After James announced that he won't be returning to Los Angeles for his 24th NBA season, the team also lost more members of last year's core. Center Deandre Ayton was traded to the Washington Wizards, wing Rui Hachimura signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, Luke Kennard signed with the Phoenix Suns and Marcus Smart signed with the Houston Rockets.
Doncic will be the unquestioned focal point of the Lakers going forward, so he will have to make it work with the team's new pieces as Los Angeles tries to contend for an NBA title.
