Richard Jefferson Says LeBron James Told Him His NBA Free Agency Landing Spot amid Rumors

The longer Jefferson talked, the more it looked clear he was speaking in jest. He started laying it on a little too thick when he said that "we've been really game-planning how we want everything to go."
James might actually have decided on his next stop, though.
Jefferson referenced "some other dominoes" that need to fall before LeBron announces his choice, but there doesn't appear to much else on tap in terms of blockbuster transactions. Nearly all of the top free agents have signed, and trades involving Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jaylen Brown were completed.
Beyond his profile, James is commanding so much attention because he's far and away the most notable name left in terms of the players who could realistically move.
In general, the pluses and minuses for the franchises under consideration for LeBron probably won't change in the coming days and weeks.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers may have edged out ahead of the pack. The rosters for the Cavs, assuming they re-sign James Harden, and Sixers are pretty settled, and the Heat are filling out the margins around Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
Whether Jefferson is in James' inner circle or not, his remarks could hit on a wider truth.
