Jimmy Butler Trolls Kyle Lowry with Michael Jordan Meme in Photo Tribute After Star's NBA Retirement
Jimmy Butler congratulated Kyle Lowry on his retirement with a celebratory message and some light trolling.
The Golden State Warriors star took to Instagram on Tuesday and thanked Lowry for "always being there for me" and being a "legit brother" and the "best godfather to my baby girl."
However, he also posted a photo of himself hitting a jumper over Lowry with a sad Michael Jordan meme plastered over the guard's face:
It was an amusing touch from Butler and a hint at the relationship between the former Miami Heat teammates.
Butler and Lowry were both in Miami together from the 2021-22 season to the 2023-24 one.
The post comes after Lowry officially announced his retirement Tuesday with a farewell video released through the Toronto Raptors. Fittingly, the guard signed a one-day contract with the team so he could retire with the team many associate him with from his nine years with the franchise.
In nine seasons with Toronto, he won a championship and was a six-time All-Star. He is the franchise leader in assists, three-point field goals, steals and triple-doubles and is a franchise icon for his accomplishments.
But that didn't stop Butler from having some fun with his retirement.
