WNBA teams had until Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET to waive players on non-guaranteed contracts before their deals became fully guaranteed (h/t Annie Costabile of The Athletic).
Carter only appeared in 11 minutes during Las Vegas' 98-90 win over the Chicago Sky on Friday, although Aces head coach Becky Hammon did not reference an injury when discussing her limited playing time.
"Chennedy should be good to go," Hammon said, per ESPN's Michael Voepel. "Just made an executive decision there on what I liked and what was working."
Carter was in the midst of her first season in Las Vegas, making the team on a non-guaranteed minimum contract after the Aces initially signed her to a training camp deal on April 15.
It marked her return to the WNBA, as she didn't suit up for a team during the 2025 season after playing for the Sky in 2024.
Carter's tenure with the Aces started on a high note, as she averaged 19.1 points per game while coming off the bench across her first seven appearances of the year.
Her playing time decreased after she alluded to being on a "leash" with Las Vegas as part of a series of social media posts on May 29, though.
After Carter played at least 19 minutes in each game prior to the social media activity, she wasn't on the floor for more than 16 minutes in any of her six appearances following the posts.
Now, she'll look to join a new team for the remainder of her 2026 campaign.
The Aces currently own a 15-6 record as they attempt to capture their fourth championship in five years.
