Padres' Randy Vásquez Hospitalized After Fainting at Dodger Stadium amid Ankle Injury Concern
San Diego Padres pitcher Randy Vásquez spent Thursday night undergoing testing at a hospital in Los Angeles on Thursday after fainting following his start against the Dodgers.
Padres manager Craig Stammen told reporters after a 12-7 loss that Vásquez fainted on his way to an X-ray room in Dodger Stadium to get imaging done after taking a comebacker off his ankle in the bottom of the first inning:
"He was on his way to get an X-ray here in the stadium and fainted. So we took him to the emergency room just as a precaution. He's conscious. He's getting all his tests done. So we don't really know about his ankle yet. He's getting all those kinds of tests. We'll know more hopefully tonight and tomorrow."

Stammen added it's unclear what caused Vásquez to faint, but a Padres trainer was nearby to catch him before he hit the ground and he went to the hospital as a precaution.
Vásquez was hit by a comebacker by Mookie Betts that came off the bat at 98.8 mph. It deflected off the right-hander's ankle and into the glove of first baseman Ty France, who was able to step on the bag to get an out.
After throwing a couple of practice pitches in front of Padres coaches and medical staffers, Vásquez remained in the game. He made it through three innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk with no strikeouts.
The right-hander has a 4.71 ERA in 84.0 innings over 17 appearances this season.
