Damian Lillard Welcomes Ja Morant to Blazers With Video Message After Trade from Grizzlies

Damian Lillard welcomed Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers in a short video released by the team on Tuesday.

The Blazers acquired Morant on Monday from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray. It was a relatively low price to pay for the two-time All-Star, though injuries and other concerns cratered Morant's value in recent years.

The expectation in Portland, however, is that Lillard and Morant will comprise the starting backcourt. The Blazers have ample depth at guard, so other trades may follow. But expect Lillard, Morant and Deni Avdija to lead the team in the 2026-27 season.
