Latest LeBron James Rumors Reveal Timeline to Pick Landing Spot amid Warriors, Cavs, Heat Buzz
After parting ways with the Los Angeles Lakers, star forward LeBron James is reportedly taking his time to figure out his next move.
ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reported that James and his representatives "will talk to a few teams after free agency opens in a few hours," but a source said there's "no rush" for him to make a decision.
ESPN's Dave McMenamin offered more insight on what to expect from James' free agency process:
ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat are expected to pursue James in free agency.
Charania explained that the Warriors have a grand scheme to bring James and an All-Star he's very familiar with as a tandem this offseason.
"Draymond Green declined his $27.6 million player option Monday, opening up the flexibility for the Warriors to pursue James and a possible trade with the Washington Wizards for Anthony Davis, which would reunite the former Lakers teammates in Golden State," Charania stated.
James also won NBA titles with the Cavs and Heat, and sources told Charania they are "expected to be in the running to sign him."
James played eight seasons with the Lakers and helped lead them to an NBA championship in 2020. He played 60 games this past season and averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds, proving that he's still one of the top players in the league. He will be turning 42 in December, and the 2026-27 campaign will be his 24th season, so his next team will likely be the last of his legendary career.
For now, it sounds like James will evaluate all of his options before deciding on his next landing spot, so fans could be waiting a while before learning about his next move.
