Heat Rumors on Bradley Beal, Khris Middleton, Mike Conley, Hardaway Jr. and More After Giannis Trade
If you are a veteran NBA player set to hit free agency and in the market for a minimum contract, the Miami Heat are probably going to have interest since they need to fill out the roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
Per NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, Bradley Beal, Khris Middleton, Mike Conley Jr., Tim Hardaway Jr. and Gabe Vincent are among the players expected to receive "priority" interest from the Heat.
If there was a drawback of the Heat's acquisition of Antetokounmpo, it was that it hard-capped them at the first apron with roughly $18.1 million available to spend and four roster spots to fill.
Andrew Wiggins did help the Heat a little bit by turning down his $30 million player option for next season and agreeing to a three-year, $64 million deal on Monday.
As a result of their limited financial flexibility, the Heat are expected to be heavy into the veteran minimum market.
Vincent would seem likely to have interest in the Heat after spending the first four years of his NBA career in Miami before joining the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent in the summer of 2023.
Beal was on Miami's radar three years ago before the Washington Wizards traded him to the Phoenix Suns. Hardaway's connections to the Heat are familial after his father, Tim Hardaway Sr., played six seasons with the club from 1995 to 2001.
Middleton and Conley are highly respected veteran players who would help boost the depth in Miami around Antetokounmpo and Adebayo.
It's going to take some time for the Heat to build the exact roster around their All-Star duo that they want due to the cap implications of the blockbuster trade, but the possibility of adding multiple low-cost veterans who can acclimate to a new setting quickly will help them in their quest to join the ranks of the Eastern Conference elites next season.
